Laurence Campbell was born and raised in London. At the age of 7 he started reading British reprints of American Comics and saw Star Wars – two influences which set him on his life’s path. After leaving school at age sixteen, he worked as a junior designer while he attended evening classes at the London Cartoon Centre with tutors David Lloyd, Dougie Braithwaite, and Kev Hopgood. He then studied graphic design at Central Saint Martins College of Art, and later became a lecturer there. Whilst lecturing he started his career in comics, working for Caliber Comics, 2000AD, and Image before moving to Marvel, where he had an exclusive contract for two years. Laurence’s art is loved for its graphic cinematic images, and for the gritty noir feel of his work.
